The International Conferences on Research and Applications of Plasmas have been organized every two years since 1993. This conference started as a means of facilitation of contact and cooperation between the scientists and engineers from the Eastern European Countries, but later broadened its invitation to scientists from all around the world.

In 2005 the conference was organized jointly with the 3rd German-Polish Conference on Plasma Diagnostics and the 5th French-Polish Seminar on Thermal Plasma in Space and Laboratory, in Turawa near Opole. In 2007 the similar triple conference was organized by German partners at the Max-Planck IPP in Greifswald. The next Conference on Plasma Diagnostics in 2010 was organised by French partners in Pont-a-Mousson. After that Plasma Conference went back to Warsaw where it was successfully organized till 2017.

In 2019 conference returns to Opole, and will be organized by the Institute of Physics University of Opole.
